Our garden flourished
In solstice
The aches from ongoing construction
Had paid their due
Now we are given the chance
To admire
And may we rest,
just us –
Until the furs on the trees begin to rust
And lose their grip
To reach the comfort of their blanket below
That is when we know
We must keep our distance
Leaving our haven abandoned
You will embed in the hawk’s eyes
To watch the seasons turn,
I will join the worms
In the compost
Lingering until you enter again
Shifted back as the keykeeper
Who churns me into the earth
So together may we start again,
In the summer.
