At this time I look up at the stars, laying in the grass next to you.
I pointed up and asked,
What are those twinkling spots of light in the endless blue?
At this time you laugh and say,
The stars will always guide me back to you.
But that wasn’t always true.
At this time we dance in the clouds,
And sketch our dreams with each other.
They pop off the page and come alive,
Telling us our future will always be together.
We make towers of hopes and spread waves of impossible fantasies,
And I told myself anything is possible, as long as I was with you.
But then they all came crashing down,
Just because you simply weren’t around
At this time I lay in the grass and look up at the sky,
And instead of seeing the bright stars that used to light my way,
All I see is darkness,
An endless night.
I hear your laugh, and I look around,
And instead of seeing you,
I see nothing.
Just another reminder how you’re not here.
At this time I look up at the sky, and the stars have disappeared.
Along with it my happiness,
My light,
And with that, you took my heart right with it.
